About the brand

A naming note first: the field mixes a product with a maker — Oball Classic is the product (sold under the Bright Starts brand) and Kids2 is the maker and parent company, and this page is about Kids2, filed under the name as listed. Kids2 traces to Pansy Ellen Products, founded in 1969, re-branded as Kids II in 1993; in August 2019 Kids II announced the name change to Kids2, with brands including Baby Einstein, Bright Starts, and Ingenuity, and it acquired the Oball and Taggies brands in 2011. What the brand publishes

Sparse, honestly: no first-party Kids2 safety or testing program statement, no brand-level named standard, and no named lab was found in this research pass. The listed ball's first-party page describes a flexible, easy-to-hold design and soft, safe construction, but gives no materials statement and no testing claim at brand level. A secondary report of a Hong Kong-based testing-lab expansion in 2009 could not be verified from a first-party Kids2 source and is not asserted here.

The honest caveats

Oball Rattles recall 17-104 — not the Classic ball

Oball Rattles, CPSC recall 17-104 (March 2, 2017, about 680,000 US units): the clear plastic disc on the outside of the rattles can break, releasing small beads, choking hazard — models 81031 and 81548 only. That is NOT the listed Oball Classic ball (model 10340), a different product in the same Oball line.

Rocking Sleepers recall — not a ball

Kids II Rocking Sleepers, CPSC recall 19-112 (April 26, 2019, about 694,000 units, reannounced 2023 as 23-089 after further deaths), are a sleeper, not a ball, and likewise do not affect the listed product.
